The 5th of September is a very special day as it celebrates all the Teachers. We have to admit that though we used to see teachers as our blood enemies, and we perceived the enmity as being mutual, it was not. It has never been. Teachers always have had our best interest in their minds, and so we celebrate them. Teachers’ Day is not only celebrated in India but in many other countries as well. In India, it is celebrated also as the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, since 1962. Allahabad is specially known for its education and has seen many great teachers. One of them being Shree Harivansh Rai Bachchan, who taught English at the University of Allahabad. Though we all have our favorites, yet all teachers are special and unique, with their own methods of teaching, and at some point everyone has been one, even if not professionally. We, SangamWasis, love and thank you all.

With Allahabad being a hub for education for many many years, giving education as blessings to India, IAS and PCS officers, and many such successful people, there is still a need for one stream of education. Sex Education. Sex education for the young, right when they begin to see themselves and the members of the opposite sex differently. Right when that first question pops up in their minds about how babies are born. Right before their curious minds begin searching for answers in all the wrong places.

Education and teachers are some of the best things that have happened to this world, lets allow it to expand in all the directions of the horizon and leave no stone unturned.

With this thought, SangamWasi wishes you a very Happy Teachers’ Day!

I am a teacher of Psychology by day and a writer by night. I was born in Allahabad, and have lived here ever since. This city has nurtured me, groomed me, loved me and infuriated me at times as well. I owe much to her. I am a passionate writer, poet and learner of a few other modes of expression like photography and would like, some day, to be known by these. I want to live it all.
